My Practice

Welcome to my website… I am a licensed clinical social worker with a diverse practice. I am a Psychotherapist, a College Planner and a Divorce and Family Mediator.

I began my private practice in 1994 treating individuals and families with a wide variety of disorders – depression, anxiety, eating disorders, trauma, substance abuse, divorce and childhood related issues. From these experiences I developed a number of helpful Parenting Skills Workshops that I offer regularly.

My work in college planning naturally evolved out of my work with teenagers. In addition to the emotional problems of the adolescent population, I recognized the need high school juniors and seniors had for someone to advise them on the college planning process. One student quickly turned into another in my practice, and another. Before long, I was doing as much college planning as psychotherapy. Parents liked and appreciated the comfort level I have with teenagers and how easily I can relate to them. With my psychotherapy background, it is easy for me to identify and address the nuances and emotions kids have during the college planning process.

In my practice I have worked with many families affected by divorce. I saw a constant theme of children getting emotionally lost and hurt during their parents’ divorce. This was a big part of my motivation to become a divorce mediator. Additionally, my own parents got divorced when I was five years old. It was the early 70’s and divorce mediation was not commonplace. Thus, my parents had a highly litigated divorce with a long custody battle. I remember they were so caught up in their struggles, they didn’t notice my struggles. I wish someone could have helped them to co-parent and to see how their divorce left me feeling alone and scared.
